Homo, I finished this AGES ago, but permit me just say: I've referenced and re-referenced this throughout my fine art history career (of four semesters)! The essays may be dumbo, simply after reading and re-reading, Fineberg'due south summary of the last 70 years of art history is a slap-up reference tome for the budding contemporary fine art historian. A+, would dear once again. Man, I finished this AGES agone, but permit me but say: I've referenced and re-referenced this throughout my art history career (of iv semesters)! The essays may be dense, but after reading and re-reading, Fineberg's summary of the final seventy years of art history is a nifty reference tome for the budding gimmicky art historian. I consider this to exist the "Bible" of modernistic fine art history books, especially as information technology focuses on the thoughts & theories behind the 20th century New York abstractionist movement. I reference it often, I recommend it highly! BTW, I just read an art review (Jan 25, 2008) in the NY Times by Ken Johnson where he uses the following four-fold definition for good art, "it is formally eyecatching, inventively fabricated, unpredictably imaginative and passionately driven." Solid foundation for understanding contemporary art theory.
Super useful reference. Utilise information technology all the time for research and understanding of unlike periods in the art world.
A fine book on 20th century fine art. From Calder to Christo, from pop art to minimalists.
Why is information technology that.....

Basic introductory text to contemporary art history. Broad coverage of both established artists (Richard Sera, Christo and Jean-Claude, deKooning) simply also of lesser known pockets and fine art communities (Bay Area figuration).
Enjoyable equally far as introductory texts go!

Lively, readable, and very comprehensive. It took me awhile to figure out this is likely used as a textbook, simply considering it is so engaging. Lots of adept color photos, as well. Dandy reference book. Can exist read through, or in bits & pieces as each artist/movement is dealt with individually.
Proficient survey book of Post-Mod Fine art.
Art history books tin very easily become unbearable and thus unreadable. This i is not.
